About two days ago, I was frustrated when I wasn't feeling well and realized sickdays aren't included as a benefit in the Motherhood Career Package (someone forgot to mention that along with flung-flying poo and vomit puddling down my shirt). I longed for the days when my mom would bring me Advil, water and soup while I spent the day on the couch dozing in and out of chickflicks. Again today, as I was lying Matthew down for an early nap thinking yesterday was a long day and he'd feel good getting extra shut-eye, I thought, "Man, what I'd give for someone to put me down for a nap with my favorite blanket after a long day!"
That's when it hit me, my own mom never got a sick day, scheduled nap and I definitely recall a story of a certain child not only throwing up , but simutaneously peeing their pants while on her lap... in the middle of the night... in the car... on a road trip to Ohio (where or how do you even begin to clean that one up!).
Moral of the story? I guess it's my time to pay it forward. Thanks to a great mom who gave me enough sick days and naps to hopefully carry me through while serving my own children. I love you mom!

Sorry you aren't feeling well. That story about the road trip is one of the best/worst motherhood stories I have heard.
